The Tutor Team
A team of highly professional centre based tutors are responsible for the delivery of the taught programme. Each Trainee is allocated a Personal Tutor, from the centre based team, who ensures consistent personalised support throughout the year.

'A key strength is the personalised approach to training and pastoral care'. Ofsted 2010

'The team at the SCITT are very supportive and work very hard to help Trainees to succeed. The course is well balanced with very useful and stimiluating centre based sessions.' Trainee 2011

Mentors
During teaching practice each Trainee works alongside a class teacher who is a trained Mentor, responsible for supporting their progress toward achieving QTS.

‘The whole school supported me throughout my placement but my Mentor gave me constant support, feedback and guidance that really helped me to continuously identify targets and ways in which to further improve my teaching.’ Trainee 2011

Quotes from Headteachers

'I have appointed several members of staff who have trained with South Coast SCITT. They have demonstrated a real undertanding of the Early Years and Key Stage 1 curriculum and have applied this to their planning and delivery of the curriculum. I have found South Coast SCITT Trainees to be reflective practitioners who strive to become outstanding teachers. They are committed to the development of their teaching and to supporting whole school improvement.’
Mrs Boynton - Highcliffe St. Mark Primary School, Chair of South Coast SCITT Governing Body

‘At Bransgore Primary Teaching School, we have employed 11 NQTs from South Coast SCITT, over a period of ten years. I value employing South Coast SCITT Trainees because of their thorough knowledge and understanding of learning and teaching, and how schools work. All these SCITT teachers have had a major contribution to my school’s outstanding status.’
Peter Pretlove -Head Teacher, Bransgore Primary School

'We have employed 4 South Coast SCITT Trainees over the past few years and have found them all to be exemplary practitioners with an excellent understanding of pedagogical theories of the ways in which children learn and how theory is translated into outstanding practice within the classroom. Each of the Trainees have effectively led and managed subjects and 2 of the Trainees are now part of my leadership team, taking responsibility for leading practice within their year groups.'
Hilary Silk - Headteacher, Ringwood Infant School

A distinctive feature of our Partnership Schools is their commitment to providing high quality provision, reflected by nationally recognised awards and inspection reports. The schools serve diverse communities including rural and urban catchments. There are a mix of Church of England, Catholic, and non denominational schools.
