The Course

SCITT Course

Our fast-paced, ‘hands-on’ course is designed to support Trainees in making meaningful connections between theory and practice through the following strategies:

  • A unique 7 week SCITT/Training School Experience based in Bransgore Primary School, an Teaching School Academy partnered with Ringwood Secondary School.
  • Two 9 week school placements in contrasting key stages and school settings during which trainee practice is closely tracked and assessed.
  • High quality centre-based seminars and workshops led by expert teachers or trainers.
  • Independent academic study incluidng a small scale school-based research project.
  • Support from centre-based personal tutors and school-based mentors to personalise training opportunities to secure trainee progress and promote reflective practice.


Our Training Model


SCITT / Teaching School (STS) Experience

(7 weeks at the Bransgore site) 

Outstanding Practice modelled,
Theory & practice integrated, analysed and mediated

A variety of supported observation and teaching experiences and centre-based sessions



SCITT Partnership Placement 1

(9 weeks in a partnership school) 

Theory / Practice relationships applied

Personalised support from a school mentor who has attended bespoke mentor training 

Bulding to a teaching commitment of about 50% of the week.



SCITT Enriched Learning Experience

(4 weeks in centre & school-based settings) 

Theory / Practice relationships enriched

Experience in SEN/D & culturally diverse schools,

Centre-based sessions on enhanced subject knowledge for teaching, preparation for recruitment, capitalising on experience in the context of additional expert tuition.



SCITT Partnership Placement 2

(9 weeks in a partnership school) 

Theory / Practice relationships consolidated

Personalised support from a school mentor who has attended bespoke mentor training

Building to a teaching commitment of about 80% of the week



Employment in Education 

Supported transition to the Induction year and continued liaison and support
