All candidates must be physically and mentally fit to teach young children (DfES Fitness to Teach 2007) and not legally debarred from so doing. (Please note, a criminal record does not automatically debar a candidate from a place on the course). In addition to enhanced CRB Disclosures as of July 2010 all successful candidates will be subject to new Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) regulations.
During the interview process we are looking for the following qualities and attributes of a potential teacher.
Applicants for specialisms in either Early Years or General Primary
must possess the following essential requirments before being selected
for interview:

A reference from a Head teacher or other senior professional to comment on applicant’s suitability as a teacher. |

A personal statement which:-
- Demonstrates accurate spelling and grammar
- Articulates appropriate reasons for wanting to teach primary
- Identifies a range of personal strengths relevant to primary teaching
- Conveys commitment to teaching
- Has recent experience of working with children in schools/other settings
- Demonstrates openness to learning
- Has a breadth of experience /transferable skills
